Upper Body Benefits Of Exercise With A Free Standing Pull Up Bar

The pull up exercise can be used to workout every part of your upper body.  All you need is a pull up bar.  They can come in many different designs, shapes, and sizes.  You can get great results for your biceps, triceps, shoulders, abs, and back with just a pull up bar.  You can work every body you wish to concentrate on just by changing your grip and leverage of the bar.

If you start out and are having difficulty doing a pull up there are a few things you can do.  You can grab a partner to spot you at the waste to assist you in doing a pull up or you can grab a chair to take off some of the added weight causing you problems.  Once you begin to strengthen the muscles you can then get rid of the chair or partner and do them on your own.

A free standing pull up bar is great compared to the doorway mounted pull up bars if you do not have a doorway that can carry the weight.  They are perfect for a workout room or garage.

You can vary your exercises to concentrate on different muscles.  You can take an under grip to workout more of the bicep and forearm muscle groups.  Or you can do an over the top grip and work more of the back and shoulders.  You an also widen your grip to concentrate more on the back or close your grip in to concentrate more on the triceps.  You can also do a static hang and really burn your shoulders by just hanging on the bar for just 30 seconds to 1 minute.

A pull up bar is one of those age old devices that has been used for workouts for the test of time.  The reason being is a pull up is still one of the best exercises you can do for your upper body.
