Top Leg Workouts To Strengthen Muscles

Skirts and shorts are the best way to show of the legs. These can also be uncomfortable clothing to wear, if one is self conscious about their legs. Some people may feel that their legs should not be seen by anyone due to having cellulite or their legs not being toned. There are some leg workouts that can be done, to improve the appearance of the legs.

In order to get starting with your legs workout, one should always stretch to get the body warmed up. Leg raises are a great warm up exercise that can be done for the legs. This is done by laying flat on your back with your arms to the side. Raise your right leg, while keeping the left leg flat on the ground. Chin should be resting on your chest, while the leg is lifted. Leave the lifted leg in position for 10-15 seconds before putting it back down. Once the right leg is back on the floor, the left leg should be lifted and held for the same amount of time. To get an extensive workout, both legs should be raised simultaneously. An additional benefit of this workout is in your core area, adding to everyone’s goal of washboard abs.

Squats are one of the best routines to do, to tone the thighs, hips, and buttocks. For those that are just starting to work out, they can use a chair. One should stand behind the chair and place both hands on the resting area of the chair. Contract your abs, then bend your knees like if you are ready to sit down, without really doing so. Stay in that position for 5-10 seconds before lifting yourself back up. This should be done in sets of ten to get started. As your body becomes used to it, one can begin increasing the amount of sets done. To make it a more challenging work out, one can remove the chair and hold on to dumbbells.

Leg extensions can also be a great way to tone your legs. These are done by sitting on a chair and leaving your hands on the seat. Mover you body off the chair and begin lowering yourself down towards the floor, without fully touching the floor. As your body is nearing the floor, stop and straighten your left leg outward. Stay in the position for 10 seconds, before returning the leg to the original position and pulling yourself back up on to the chair. Repeat this 10 times before switching to the right leg.

Another great legs workout is lunges. To complete these, you should take a step forward and begin lowering yourself with your knee almost touching the ground. Stay in that position for 10-15 seconds and then return to the original position. Do a set of ten then switch to the next leg. You can also make it challenging by alternating the legs simultaneously.

These are just some of the leg workouts that can be done to tone those legs. After a few weeks of doing these, one will begin to see results. In a matter of time, skirts, shorts, and dresses will be sought to show off those toned, muscular legs.
