Diets That Work And What You Need To Look For
Diets that work are few and far between. Some diets even claim to work more quickly than others. We’ve all gotten the same advice from a friend or co-worker. “You have got to try this new diet that works really fast.” Well, we’ve got news for you, almost all diets that work, don’t always work for everyone. The key to finding a diet that works for you is finding a diet that most closely follows your normal eating habits. For example, if you never cook, don’t choose a diet that calls for all fresh foods cooked at home. Do you hate frozen dinners? Then a diet that forces you to eat frozen dinners every night is not the diet for you. Take a good look at how you like to eat, then find a plan that’s close.
In this day and time we actually consume fewer calories than we did at the turn of the twentieth century. But the food we consume now is far from the same. Our diets today consist of highly processed and refined foods, heavy with empty calories, hidden sugar and sodium. Plus, we eat far too few fresh fruits and vegetables. Diets that work to help you lose weight contain not only frequent consumption of whole foods, but also good amounts of them.
Food manufacturers tempt us with super sized portions only pennies more than medium ones. They spend billions trying to sell us on meals so processed it’s hard to recognize the actual food. We’ve bought the whole lie and we are living large and that translates into living obese.
Another thing to consider when sorting through different diets that work is to look at the change in your eating habits as permanent. If you’re looking at losing weight, you can be certain that you didn’t gain it in a week’s time and it’s unreasonable to expect to lose it in a week’s time. If you go on an extreme diet with the expectation of going back to your same eating habits after you lose your weight, you are setting yourself up for failure. You’re sentencing yourself to a lifetime cycle of gaining and losing weight.
Instead, set yourself up for success. Make a series of small changes in your eating pattern over an extended period of time. This will ensure your weight loss stays consistent and your good eating habits are well developed to last a life time.
Many people dread going on a diet because they feel they’ll be depriving themselves. The best diets that work are those that teach you to eat real food instead of those that restrict you from eating real food. If you love chocolate, find a diet that teaches you how to eat chocolate in a reasonable way.
