Do Low Carb Meals Help With A Weight Loss Diet?

The argument about low carb versus low fat diets has been raging for several years now.  There have been many claims made by both sides and, unfortunately, the food manufacturers have jumped into the fray and made all kinds of claims in order to sell more of their products.  In reality, both groups in the low carb/low fat battle can be right and they can be wrong.  It is not really what type of food you eat that is important, it really comes down to one fact only.  Your weight loss or weight gain is determined by the number of calories you consume and the number of calories you burn.

If you eat food high in calories you are going to have to do more exercising if you want to lose weight.  If you eat foods lower in total calorie count then you can lose weight with moderate exercise.  Both of the groups in this battle want you to believe they have found the silver bullet to dieting.  But, the only silver bullet is the fact of calories in versus calories out.

Low carb meals can be very beneficial to a diet if they are also low in calorie count.  So if you are going to eat bacon and whole eggs and whole milk you are going to have hard time taking the fat off because you will be eating a lot of calories.  On the other hand, if you eat lean meats, egg white products, and skim milk you are going to have a lower calorie count meal and it will be easier to slim down.  Low carb foods that are packed with calories won’t help you to lose weight any  more than high carb foods which are packed with calories will.

Your best bet is to eat a balanced diet that is low in calories and start an exercise plan to burn the extra you have stored in fat.  This is the only silver bullet in weight loss whether we want to believe it or not.
