Electric Treadmill Vs Outdoor Running

Deciding whether you would like to become a stationary treadmill runner, or an exploring outdoor runner when getting in shape is a more difficult decision than most people would think.

The advantages of outdoor running are more obvious. First of all, its more exciting, and you get to explore, and see different things constantly. Its the more outgoing of the two, depending on how close you live to a nice place to run. If you live in the city, this may not be the best option unless a nice park is near. If you live in the suburbs, just step outside and you’ve already got yourself a nice workout and running environment. Also depending on how serious you are, you can get a runners GPS watch, so you can not only track the exact distance you run, but your location.

The advantages of an electric treadmill are more subtle, but definitely existent. While running on a treadmill, you can quit at any time, have an air conditioner overhead, water by your side, and you can quit at anytime and be right at home or in your gym. Outdoor running obviously requires you to make the run back if you decide you’re tired, and if you run out of water in the middle of your neighborhood or park, it may be difficult to find more. You’re also likely to sweat a lot more if running outdoors, but if you are trying to lose weight that may be a benefit. Another advantage of electric treadmill running is the statistics you can look it. It can tell you how far you have run, simulate hills, tell you how many calories you’ve burned, and make you feel more accomplished in general.

The choice between the two is in the end personal preference, depending on how outgoing you are, and how comfortable you would like to be.
