From Flabs to Fabs: Ways to a Flatter Tummy
Everytime you see Matthew McConaughey’s washboard abs or Fergie’s flat midsection, you couldn’t help but wonder how on earth they got to be so lucky. In the pursuit of fab abs, most of us have tried countless ab workout exercises, weight systems, and got duped by ab-sculpting equipment that don’t seem to work. What you don’t know is that these exercises alone, however intensive, do not give you the abs you desire.
Factors like stress, poor diet and alcohol are the major factors to flabby tummies. Alcohol, for instance, increases the body’s cortisol level which sends fats right down to your belly. Stress and poor diet contribute to a similarly poor disposition to exercise, thus leading to a downgrade in the efficiency of your ab workout. It cannot be stressed out often enough that, for your workout to bear fruit, you must have the discipline and self-control to avoid excessive eating and alcohol intake. You must avoid alcohol at all costs. Loading at least 25 to 38 g of fiber in your daily diet helps you avoid constipation and allows you to feel full a lot longer. The right proportions of the food groups are also necessary in your diet. Health experts recommend 50% of your daily diet to go in fruits and vegetables, while the remaining half should include proteins and low-fat carbohydrates. The first step to rock-hard abs is to eliminate those love handles that weigh down on the side of your tummy area. You can do this by taking 30 minutes of aerobic exercises at least 3 to 4 times a week. This immensely improves your cardio and sheds off those extra pounds.
No matter how much you work and crunch your way through those gritty abdominal exercises, it would be all for naught when you do not take control of your diet and stress level. Just like any weight loss or body-building endeavor, it takes a lot of discipline and determination to get the body you want. So, next time you see Matthew and Fergie on TV, laugh it off. With the right attitude towards working out and keeping healthy, you are going to have your six-packs in no time flat.
