Getting a Full Body Workout with Fitness Band Exercises
I’ve spent hours in the gym over the years and while the results are often worth it, the sacrifice to my free time isn’t. While I am a homeowner now, I have lived in small apartments where there just wasn’t room for bulky exercise equipment or even to do complicated cardio routines. Some of the best fitness tools available are fitness exercise bands.
Not only are fitness exercise bands completely portable, but fitness band exercises will give your body a complete workout in a small amount of time. You can do everything you would normally do with dumbells and more! Get a full workout for both your upper and lower body; with a little know how, you can work every major muscle group using fitness exercise bands.
If you hold each end of the exercise band, one in each hand, and stand on the center of the band, with a few simple modifications you can work your biceps, triceps, shoulders and back without ever leaving your spot. I’ve found that I can do double duty by adding a squat with each arm or back move. That’s twice the workout in half the time.
When sitting on the floor and hooking the center of the band around a sturdy object above you, you can get the same benefits of doing pull ups but on a less intense level. Just by changing the angle at which you are pulling the exercise bands, you can work several different muscles.
For legs, tie one end around your ankle and the other around a heavy table or couch leg and do front, back and side leg lifts for a great lower body workout. Add that squat between reps to burn some extra calories.
I’ve gotten really ambitious in the past and paired my exercise bands with lightweight dumbells for an even more intense experience. To really get my heart pumping, I’ll do 60 seconds of jumping jacks between sets. Now I’m getting cardio and working my muscles all in one sitting.
Fitness exercise bands are completely versatile and portable so if I remember to toss them in my purse or suitcase, I have no excuses for not getting in a complete workout, no matter where I happen to be.
