Great Fitness Workouts
I’ve tried just about every fitness workout out there and if there is one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that the best fitness workouts don’t require a lot of expensive equipment, they simply need to hold your interest. My experiences have taught me that if your workout is boring and you find yourself struggling through it, it’s time to find something new. As long as you follow some basic guidelines, you can get a great fitness workout doing almost anything you choose.
I’m realizing that timing is everything. I’ve tried spending hours in the gym and while you can yield fantastic results that way, in the long run, it’s a very difficult workout schedule to maintain. I’m lucky if I can fit a few hours of physical activity into a week, let alone a day. As long as a fitness routine involves raising your heart rate for at least 10 minutes at a time, 2-3 times a day, you will reap the benefits. I don’t know anyone who can’t carve out 10 minutes to dedicate to their health.
A workout doesn’t have to feel like work. In fact, if it does feel like a chore, I just won’t stick with it. Just about anything can be considered a fitness workout. As long as I get my heart pumping, I know I am burning calories. Vacuuming, folding laundry, playing with the dog or gardening are all fantastic activities that double as physical activity. I often find that if I just can’t spare a couple of 10 minute windows during my busy day, I can turn a required activity, liking raking the leaves, into a great fitness workout. Especially if I get my husband involved. We can turn almost anything into a competition and seeing who can clean up the yard faster is the perfect recipe for getting in a satisfying workout.
In all of my years spent trying countless fitness workouts, what it boils down to is finding something I can stick with. That means doing something that I enjoy that happens to get my heart pumping, like taking my dog to the local park. It beats spending hours going nowhere on a treadmill any day!
