Home Workout Tips

A simple home workout program can improve your health, save you money and boost your mood. Many people make the mistake of thinking that they need a gym membership in order to stay in good physical shape. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. If you put a little thought into designing an awesome home workout program, you’ll be getting more exercise than the majority of the people in the United States.

The key is to think back to high school gym class. Remember the exercises you did back them: push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, stretches, maybe a little weight training. You also probably had to run around the gym and do jumping jacks from time to time. Believe it or not, if you perform these exercises on a regular basis, you will be going a long way towards getting yourself into good physical condition.

Even the official fitness test of the U.S. Marine Corps consists of three tasks: Pull-ups, running and abdominal crunches. If these basic physical activities are good enough to evaluate Marines, they’re good enough for you.

Start with something simple and keep it short. Sit-ups. Push-ups. Stretches. If you have a pull-up bar, definitely start using that as well. Alternate the days you do these exercise with days of brisk walking. Depending on your physical condition, you might even be able to start out with a jog. Try to get 15 minutes of physical exercise a day, alternating between muscle building exercises and simple cardio. Each week, increase the difficulty level and duration.

The first week will suck, because if you’re like the majority of Americans, you’ve been living a pretty sedentary lifestyle. Always keep in mind, that you are doing something that will lengthen and improve your quality of life.

It may sound ridiculously simple, but it works. With a little time and determination, a home workout plan can make a radical difference on your life.
