Many people I know have the same problem I do; they have a hard time getting good running shoes. I even went as far as to ask my doctor if he could recommend a particular brand or type of shoe for me. Then I started doing some research and found a few tips I thought were great. I decided I should share with all of my fellow runners so we can run safely and pain free.

Fit is everything when you buy shoes. To determine your exact size you may have to try on a lot of shoes. Different brands tend to size their shoes just a hair differently but it can make a huge difference. You may even find that there are only certain brands you can buy to get the fit you need to be comfortable. If the fit isn’t just right they can be very painful and even make blisters on your toes or feet.

Arch support is the next thing you should look at. This can help with overall posture which can make a big difference when you are running. This is especially true if you are running for long periods of time or even just on a daily basis.

How much support is given to your ankles can be very important also. This can help with balance especially if you are running on uneven surfaces like on a trail or off road. Without proper ankle support you may run the risk of turning or even breaking an ankle. Falls are not something you want to deal with if it can be helped.

I personally couldn’t get over how much better my ankles, arches and legs felt when once I had found the right shoe for me and bought a pair of control running shoes.

If you run in all weather conditions then you will want running shoes that won’t fall apart simply because they get wet. Look for shoes that are sturdy and durable. Any shoes that are put together with glue are usually a bad idea even in the best of circumstances.

If you have to buy a new pair of shoes in a week’s time then you are wasting money. You might want to consider spending a little more and getting shoes you will be happy with. Shoes for running are like any other piece of exercise equipment and should be considered an investment. You don’t have to buy the most expensive pair but don’t buy them simply because they are cheaper then other brands.

Buy your running shoes today and then get out their and run. Running is great exercise and good for your heart as well. Lose weight and feel better with just a few minutes each day. Start slow and you will build your stamina in no time.
