Your Guide to a Great Jumping Rope Fitness Workout

Jumping rope is a great way to stay fit, burn calories, improve stamina, and build strength. What used to be just a childhood pastime can now be one of your favorite and most effective jump rope fitness workout. In fact, jumping rope burns calories equal to that of high intensity running. And you never have to leave your driveway for this one!

There really isn’t much to achieving a great workout with the jump rope. All you have to do is jump. If you’re not very confident with a jump rope yet, jump two feet at a time and jump slowly. You can even add an extra bounce in between jumps to put less stress on your knees and ankles. Jump as many jumps as you can and work your way up to 100 jumps at a time without stopping or tripping.

The more jumps you can do in a row, the more your heart rate will speed up. This is the main goal you are trying to achieve for a good, calorie-burning cardio exercise. It may take a while, but continue to increase the number of jumps per set and the length of time you can jump without stopping.

If you’re like most athletes, you may get bored if the workout isn’t interesting or challenging enough. The great thing about jumping rope is that there are many different ways you can jump. Once you’re comfortable with the two-footed jump, you might try skipping over the rope or jumping on only one foot at a time. You might also try two-footed backwards jumping in which the rope goes backwards over your head.

To really challenge your dexterity, you can mix up the different jumps for each set. This takes both concentration and coordination!

If you can do all of these jumps consistently and confidently, you can also throw in rope twists or swings for a difficult, mind and body-stretching challenge. Furthermore, you can work on strength and endurance by attempting to pass the rope under your feet twice for each jump!, build strength

To see excellent results, you might set a goal such as 1000-2000 jumps per day and watch your body grow stronger and more adept to your jumping routines. Even ten to twenty minutes of jumping rope several days per week can help you get and stay fit!
